Rest. What a powerful and foreign word to most of us. What do you think of when you hear it? Maybe taking a nap, curling up with a good book and cup of tea, having a one hour break from taking care of an ailing loved one, shopping with your girlfriend, or even your little one sleeping through the night so you can, too. We all know we need to rest, but it seems like a very lofty, unattainable goal.
Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
I love how the Message translates it, "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
Sweet sisters, in order to obtain the perfect rest in this hectic thing we call life, we must reach for Jesus. He is waiting for us with outstretched arms saying, "My beloved, come and sit in my lap and just breathe." We must find our hope and rest in Jesus in order to be the very best friend, wife, sister, mother, daughter we can be. Jesus didn't say life would be easy, but he did say he came so that we might have it to the fullest. He wants us to "keep company with him to learn how to live lightly and freely." How wonderful is that???!!!!! Can you think of a better teacher than the risen Messiah?
Sisters, I pray that during this hectic holiday season we find quiet times in our schedules to just sit and listen to God (even if you have to lock yourself in your bathroom to do it!). You might be surprised at what He wants to say.
I love you all so much.

Robin you are doing a great job on the blog! This will be great for all of us busy women. Thanks for the reminder to find rest during this busy season. God Bless you,

Robin,
My sisters co-workers 7 year old son was kidnapped three days ago. The terrorists are asking for a ransom of $80,000 for the child. Please post a prayer request for this poor mother and child that the spirit would be with them and that he would open the hearts of people to give what they can until we raise enough to bring this baby safely back into his mothers arms!!!
